Urban renewal with Hotel 1055

April 2018

Highlighting the importance of urban regeneration for a sustainable future, Aloft is planning a new hotel at 1055 Market St. in San Francisco. The site is targeted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for community renewal.
AR Green is the sustainability consultant for Stanton Architecture on this 10-story construction seeking LEEDv4 Gold or above certification, which includes rainwater recycling and a rooftop garden among its features.

How to lower your carbon footprint

March 2018

The first step to lower the carbon footprint is identifying where the
greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions come from; then, target reductions.
PG&E has hired AR Green to train suppliers on the basics of GHG emissions and the tools to calculate reductions, including the GHG Protocol by the World Resources Institute, and the EPA Climate Leaders GHG Inventory Protocol. To get started on a cleaner future, please contact us for GHG training or accounting. 

Sustaining communities

In March Adhamina joined a group of second grades, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in West Oakland, as role model to inspire girls to discover a passion for science, technology, and engineering throughout hands-on activities and mentorship.

A Healthy Discussion with Harvard Professor

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has launched the new podcast series “Built for Health” to explore the impact of the built environment on humans. The premiere episode was launched on January 12th and addressed "Air Quality" with guest speakers: John Spengler, Professor at Harvard University, and Adhamina Rodriguez. The 30 minutes podcast offers a fresh perspective on the air you're breathing, take a listen!

Historic and Green

January 2018

The historic Giannini Hall at U.C. Berkeley (UCB) will be
retrofitted to LEED standards following UCB's commitment to sustainability.
AR Green is the sustainability consultant for EHDD Architects on this challenging project where historic preservation of finishes, lighting, and water fixtures coexists with the need to enhance the building's performance.
The project is pursuing a minimum of LEEDv4 Silver Certification. 

Kicking off the Annual Sustainability Challenge at Stanford

January 2018

The 2018 AR Green Sustainability Challenge was unveiled on January 11th at the Stanford University AEC Global Teamwork class.
 This is the 12th year in which Adhamina raises the bar on sustainability to the students. Each team is comprised of multidisciplinary and multicultural students geographically distributed around the world, and must develop a building project from conceptual design to virtual construction in five months. May the best team win!

AIA San Francisco Board of Directors

Adhamina Rodriguez has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in San Francisco for the two-year term 2018 and 2019. We are looking forward to promoting sustainability though excellence in Architecture.

The oldest is now the newest

The leading European, and the oldest, green building rating system in the market, is now the newest in the US.
BREEAM® USA In-Use strives to share the market with LEED for Existing Buildings by targeting the building stock that might not meet the criteria for LEED certification. BREEAM In-Use is applicable to any existing commercial building, there are no prerequisites, it's simple and affordable.
By the numbers: LEED has 105,016 projects registered since
2000; BREEAM has 2,264,000 buildings registered since 1990.

First Street Green is a new high-performance office building with exceedingly comfortable, healthy, and productive workspaces, and a new community gathering place that builds upon the
charm of the human-scale of downtown Los Altos. The project is being designed by EHDD Architecture for Los Altos Community Investments, under the management of Sares Regis. AR Green has been contracted to help the team achieve their goal of LEED Platinum certification.

As-needed services for health facilities

AR Green will be working with the San Francisco Public Works, and the City and County of San Francisco, providing sustainable consulting services for health facilities on an as-needed basis.
AR Green will be a consultant for LDA Architects on projects by the Department of Public Health, including hospitals and general acute care facilities under jurisdiction of the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD). 

Fitwel Ambassador

WELL workshop coming up

Do you like tennis?

If so, you will be happy to know that the historic Golden Gate Park Tennis Center will be completely transformed with a brand new building and 17 professionally sized tennis courts.
The project, designed by EHDD architects, is a partnership between the the Golden Gate Tennis Club and the SF Recreation and Parks Department. AR Green has been engaged to be the sustainability consultant. The project strives to be Zero Net Energy and LEEDv4 Platinum certified.

1850 Bryant. An equitable solution

Not every day we get the chance to work on a feel-good project
that is both sustainable, as well equitable. The 1850 Bryant Street project is a 172,000 square feet new commercial construction in San Francisco’s Mission District that strives to protect nonprofits from San Francisco’s volatile real estate rental market. The client is basically offering "affordable housing" for social service nonprofits. AR Green has been contracted to help 1850
 Bryant achieve their goal of LEEDv4 Gold certification.

Food for all

AR Green volunteered at the SF-Marin Food Bank to support social equity and access to healthy food in the Bay Area. We joined a group of volunteers from the USGBC Northern California and were happy to sort and package food for our neighborhood pantries and children. The SF-Marin Food Bank distributes more than 100,000 meals every day helping to transform lives.

11th Sustainability Challenge at
Stanford University

This January Adhamina taught again sustainable design and construction at Stanford, and presented to the students the annual AR Green Sustainability Challenge that each team will develop in a building project over the next five months. GreenPoint Rater Certification

Adhamina is now a Certified GreenPoint Rater and Advisor. GreenPoint Rated is a green building certification, administered by Build It Green, focused in the California residential market (single family and multifamily). GreenPoint Rated homes are healthy, comfortable, durable, and resource efficient. More than 31,000 homes in California have been rated through the program.

Oceanwide Center Award

October 03,  2016

AR Green is the official sustainability/LEED consultant for
the construction team, a Swinerton/Webcor Joint Venture, in the upcoming Oceanwide Center development at the Transbay Area of San Francisco. The $1.6 Billion, two million square feet development designed by Foster + Partners will add two high-rise towers of office and residential spaces, along with impressive new public spaces to downtown San Francisco.

The PG&E Sustainability Project

AR Green Consulting is diving into Phase 3 of the PG&E “Sustainability Project.”  PG&E’s Sustainability Project is developing an online tool with sustainable construction best practices, benchmarking, self-assessment, and a platform for third-party certification of suppliers as sustainable leaders. In April, Adhamina Rodriguez  became WELL Accredited Professional and was recognized among the first group of leading professionals who are dedicated to supporting human health and well-being in the built environment. Adhamina also became ICC Certified CALGreen Plans Examiner and Inspector.
